This course emphasizes the creative process of painting with oil. Still lifes will be painted with an emphasis on color mixing and interaction, composition and application of paint. The students are encouraged to find their own unique creative vision.
Intermediate

Oil Painting
Deeper exploration of oil painting is encouraged in this course.
Still lifes will be available to paint, but the students may choose their own subject matter. The objective of the class is to refine an individual and consistent approach to painting.

Mixed Media
The course offers the students the opportunity to create drawings and paintings from a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastels, charcoal and pencil. The objective is for the students to find a medium suitable to their creative process of making art.

Independent Study
This course is for students who want to work in a specific style that has naturally developed while taking classes.

Children's Art
This course will center on the individual expression and creativity of the child. Experimentation with a wide range of materials is encouraged. Each work of art is treated with respect and discussed critically by the artist and classmates.

Art Ed in Public School System
The Douglasville School of Art is a center for the advocacy for art education in all schools in the Douglas County School System. Dr. Pope has created a philosophy of art education through his vast experience working with children and youth. The environment in class revolves around individual attention, collaboration and creativity in all activities at all levels. A personal style or poetic vision occurs naturally in every person. This vision is different for each student and is recognized and developed into a mature, authentic signature style. Programs are designed to expose students to great art and artists and strive toward a personally genuine expression though studio work and meaningful discourse.

Summer Camps & After school programs
Summer camps offer school age kids the opportunity to make art for one week. Exposure to various media and free creativity is the basis of these classes. Each group is different and requires different activities.
